Stabbing reported at Elgin High School, suspect in custody

One student was stabbed and another taken into custody following an altercation Friday morning at Elgin High School, authorities said.

No identities have been released and a lockdown at the campus initiated at 9:04 a.m. was lifted at 10:34 a.m.

In a statement sent to parents, staff and students, Elgin Independent School District officials said the incident involved an altercation between three pupils.

The injured student was evaluated by emergency medical services, but the pupil’s medical condition has not been revealed.

Elgin police arrested one teen, but have not disclosed any additional information because the person is a juvenile.

Meanwhile, district officials said there was no immediate threat to the campus.

In a follow-up message, the district confirmed police had completed their investigation and issued an all-clear, allowing students to return to their regular schedules.

“The safety and security of students is our top priority," a district statement said. “We will continue to work with students and families to ensure a safe campus environment for all Wildcats."
