The Elgin volleyball team fell in straight sets, 3-0, to the Pflugerville Panthers on Friday, Sept. 19, at Elgin High School. The loss dropped the Lady Cats to 5-21 overall and 0-4 in district play.
The Lady Cats struggled early, dropping the first set 25-11 and the second 25-9. They were more competitive in the third but came up short, 25-17.
Junior Meta Elliot led the offense with six kills and added five digs. Sophomore Makayla Cooper paced the defense with eight digs, while freshman Tatiana Carlos contributed five digs in a solid showing.
The defeat extended Elgin’s district losing streak to 16 matches. The Lady Cats went 0-12 in district play last season and are still searching for their first district win this year.
Elgin looked to snap the skid on Tuesday, Sept. 23, when it hosted Pflugerville Connally at 6:30 p.m.
