A man reported missing for five days was found alive and well Wednesday afternoon in a wooded area near Elgin, according to the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office.
Texas Department of Public Safety personnel reportedly discovered the unidentified man in a creek bed about 4:30 p.m. Sept. 10. He was taken by Acadian Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital, where officials said he is expected to recover.
The man’s family reported him missing Sept. 5 after he left his home along Texas 95 and did not return. Deputies later located a pair of pants matching those he was last seen wearing, but search efforts continued with no immediate sign of him.
DPS aircraft were called in to assist with the search process early last week, eventually spotting the individual.
When found, the man reportedly asked for water before being transported to an area hospital.
Officials have not yet responded to requests for more information.
