Elgin Wildcat varsity football was stifled offensively by the Pflugerville Panthers, falling 62-7 on the road Thursday, Oct. 8.
The Wildcats have only recently begun to struggle against Pflugerville, falling 55-20 in their meeting last season after narrowly defeating the Panthers 38-35 in 2024.
Elgin senior wide-receiver Brandon Sorrells had three receptions and went 110 yards on 15 attempts. Sophomore quarterback Tanner Modesette picked up the lone touchdown for the Wildcats, throwing for -1 yard and completing 8 of 19 attempts.
The Panthers jumped ahead by the first half, leading 41-7 by halftime. They tacked on 21 additional points across the second half, finishing the night with a 62-7 victory over Elgin.
Elgin is now 2-4 overall and 0-1 for district play, placing them fourth on the rankings. The Wildcats will travel to take on the Liberal Arts Science Academy Raptors on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.
The Raptors hold a 0-6 overall record, coming off a close 19-12 loss at Navarro.
