BASTROP — Bastrop High School’s Navy Junior ROTC hosted a Patriot Day ceremony Thursday morning to honor the lives lost and the heroes who responded during the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
The Bastrop High band and choir performed tributes as students, staff and community members paused to remember and reflect. The ceremony took place before classes, and students attended voluntarily.
Attendees said the event showcased the maturity of Bastrop ISD students, reflecting on a moment in history that occurred before they were born and helping a new generation learn about unity in the face of hardship.
