Elgin Independent School District has brought on four new executive leaders overseeing curriculum, human resources and safety.




Board members announced the new hires during their meeting Sept. 21. Amanda Hardwick joins as assistant superintendent of secondary curriculum and instruction; Amy Sharp as assistant superintendent of elementary curriculum and instruction; Leah Zavala as executive director of human resources; and Enrique Martinez as director of safety and security.
Zavala replaces Sarah Juarez-Farias, who is retiring.
“Safety and learning are our two highest priorities, and each of these leaders brings unique expertise and experience that will strengthen our schools and support our growing community,” Superintendent Christopher Bailey said.
Hardwick brings more than 15 years in education, most recently as executive director of curriculum and instruction for Leander Independent School District.
Sharp has more than 20 years in education and most recently served as Leander ISD’s director of learning impact.
Zavala comes from Denton Independent School District, where she served as coordinator of human resources and educator pathways, and has more than 14 years in public education.
Mar t inez’ resume boasts 27 years of federal law enforcement and leadership experience, specializing in security planning, emergency preparedness and crisis response.
“As we continue building capacity across Elgin ISD, they will play a vital role in keeping our students safe, empowering our teachers and creating the condition for every student to thrive,” Bailey said.
