The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is seeking public feedback on proposed improvements to U.S. 290 following Tuesday’s open house meeting in Elgin, with another Manor meeting set for Oct. 1.
The authority is studying potential improvements and exploring changes to U.S. 290 between Texas 130 and east of Texas 95 South to improve safety and traffic flow along the corridor. The Manor open house will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 10104 Hill Lane, where residents can review designs and submit comments.
“Community input has played a critical role in shaping the proposed design for the U.S. 290 corridor,” Director James Bass said in a statement. “We heard valuable feedback from residents, businesses and corridor users, and that input is directly reflected in the improvements we’re presenting.”
The preliminary schematic layout will be presented through October, according to the project’s timeline, and an environmental draft is expected by mid-2027, followed by a public hearing later that year.
“As we move forward, continued community feedback on this proposed design concept will be essential to refining the design and ensuring it meets the needs of communities we serve,” Bass said.
The CTRMA is expected to complete the final schematic and environmental decision in early 2028.
