The Lady Wildcats varsity volleyball team had a big week, picking up a five-set victory over Cedar Creek Aug. 25 before hosting and going 4-2 at the Wildcat Classic over the weekend.
The Lady Cats held strong for a dramatic comeback win over Cedar Creek. After dropping the first two sets 25-22 and 25-16, the roster rallied to win the next two 25-22 and 25-22, closing out the match 15-7 in the deciding set.
At the Wildcat Classic, the Lady Cats took wins over Taylor, Thorndale, Del Valle and San Marcos, while falling to Lexington and Gatesville in a pair of tough matchups.
Elgin has won eight of its last 10 matches and holds a 17-10 record with district play just a week away.
The team continues to show significant year-overyear improvement, already having doubled the win total from last season, which Elgin finished 7-27.
The Lady Cats traveled to face Atkins after press time Sept. 1 and will return home to host McDade on Friday, Sept. 4, at 6:30 p.m.
