Elgin falls to Manor in season opener 30-14

The Elgin Wildcats varsity football team fell 30-14 to the Manor Mustangs on Friday, Aug. 28, at Manor High School.

The Wildcats struggled to find their rhythm offensively, as they were outscored 18-0 before senior Trey Flores found the end zone to cut the deficit to 18-7.

However, Elgin was unable to slow down Manor’s rushing attack, led by senior running back Andre Terry. The Mustangs outscored the Wildcats 12-7 the rest of the way to secure the 30-14 victory.

With the loss, Elgin falls to 0-1 on the season and will travel to Austin to face Northeast Early College at House Park at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5.
