August’s Yard of the Month

The Elgin Garden Club has selected the home of Gabby and Jonathan Hugh at 119 Jim Dandy Drive as August’s Yard of the Month. The front lawn features drought-tolerant plants that withstand the summer heat, including yucca, asparagus ferns, barrel cactus and sago palms, while crape myrtles and pride of Barbados bring some color to the backyard. The local club gathers at 9:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month for a potluck social and meeting at Grace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 801 W. 11th St.
