LPGCD awarded $50K for Colorado River study

The Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District has been awarded a $50,000 grant to further study how ground and surface waters interact in area rivers.

Funded through the Texas Water Development Board, the grant will help collect data from the Colorado River and Colorado River Alluvial to better understand the relationship between their aquifers. The project will support future groundwater management decisions and long-term water planning, according to officials.

“Projects like this help us build a stronger understanding of our local water resources so we can continue making science- based decisions that benefit current and future generations,” LPGCD General Manager Elvis Hernandez said in a statement.
