Williams to play D1 with the Larks

Elgin senior Sharmonique Williams has committed to play basketball at Hesston College in Kansas. Williams was one of the bright spots on the Lady Cats’ basketball team through the 202526 season. She averaged 9.9 points, seven rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, leading her team in the latter two categories.

Williams scored a season- high 28 points in a 70-19 rout of Pflugervil le Connally Feb. 3. and posted 21 in a 55-43 loss to Austin Crockett Dec. 11.

Elgin dropped 19 of its last 24 games after a 6-4 start, finishing 11-23 overall and 3-9 in District 23-5A.

Williams will likely contribute immediately for the NCCAA Division I Larks, who went 6-22 last season.
