Former Cedar Creek lineman earns 49ers honor

Former Cedar Creek High School standout and San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Alfred Collins was awarded the Thomas Herrion Memorial Award following his rookie season.

The honor is presented annually by the 49ers to a first-year player who best represents the legacy of Thomas Herrion by maximizing opportunities and turning their NFL dream into reality. Honorees are chosen by the 49ers coaching staff.

Collins made an impact during his rookie campaign, finishing the season with four tackles, two forced fumbles and one sack. He contributed to a San Francisco defense that allowed 22.7 points per game, ranking 15th in the NFL. Collins was drafted by San Francisco with the 43rd pick in the 2025 NFL draft after his collegiate career at the University of Texas at Austin. The 49ers’ season ended with a divisional-round loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, Jan. 17.
