BOYS
Elgin opened tournament play with a 4-1 win over Veterans Memorial. The Wildcats went into halftime tied 1-1 before breaking the game open with three unanswered goals in the second half.
That momentum carried into the second match as Elgin earned a 2-0 victory over Irvin. The Wildcats scored once in each half and held defensively to secure the shutout.
The boys followed with a 2-2 draw against Medina Valley. The Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead, but possession issues let two reach the back of their net. Elgin equalized as regulation expired to salvage the hard-fought draw.
The team suffered its lone loss in a 4-0 defeat against Wagner but closed tournament play on a strong note with a 2-0 win over Leander.
Elgin played at Lehman after press time Tuesday and will return to action later this week at the Iron Horse Tournament at Bastrop High School.
GIRLS

Elgin rebounded in its second match with a decisive 4-0 win over Big Spring. The Lady Cats scored all four goals in the first half and controlled play defensively to earn the shutout.
