BASTROP — The Bastrop Bears varsity football team dominated all-district selections for the 202526 season.
Bastrop’s roster claimed five district superlatives, along with nine first-team picks, two second-team selections and four honorable mentions.
Junior quarterback Weston Nielsen was named district MVP after throwing for 3,118 yards and 45 touchdowns, while adding 375 rushing yards and six scores. Senior Gary Jefferson was voted offensive MVP, senior linebacker Tiki Hola earned defensive MVP, senior Val Regalado was selected defensive line MVP and junior defensive end Case Benoit was named defensive newcomer of the year.
The Bears finished their season 11-2 overall and 6-1 in district play. They advanced to the third round of the playoffs, falling 83-20 to the Randle Lions Nov. 29.
