The Elgin Lady Cats varsity basketball team secured its first win of the season in dominant fashion, rolling past the Cedar Creek Eagles, 40– 14, on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Junior standout Roy’L Brown delivered an allaround performance to spark the victory, finishing with a game-high 15 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Brown also anchored the Lady Cats’ defensive effort, collecting 10 steals and consistently disrupting the Eagles’ offense throughout the night.

Senior guard Sharmonique Williams added an impressive outing of her own, contributing 11 points while swiping eight steals as Elgin applied relentless defensive pressure from start to finish.

Cedar Creek was led by Mackenzy Roberts, who scored six points to pace the Eagles.

With the win, Elgin evened its record at 1–1 on the young season. The Lady Cats returned to action on Tuesday against Austin Eastside and are set to compete in the Seguin Tournament beginning Thursday, Nov. 20, where they look to build on their early momentum.

Cedar Creek, now 2–5 overall, faced La Grange on Tuesday and will continue its road schedule with a matchup against Austin Akins on Monday, Nov. 24 at 10:30 a.m.
