The future looks bright for Wildcat football.
The Elgin Middle School seventh-grade A team completed its 2025 season with a perfect 9-0 record. The Wildcats dominated competition from Georgetown, Hutto and Liberty Hill school districts, outscoring them 326-62 in total. Their only close contests came in a 21-16 win over Liberty Hill and a 20-18 victory against Georgetown Benold.
Elgin recorded four shutouts and scored at least 20 points in eight of nine games, topping 30 points six times and 50 points three times.
The young roster also showcased a few star performances.
Quarterback Quinton Wesley Jr. threw for more than 1,500 yards and 20 touchdowns, and ran for two more.
Running back Garren Jefferson tallied more than 1,500 yards of total offense and 28 touchdowns.
Wide receiver Michael Cavanaugh pulled in 25 passes for more than 800 yards and 10 scores.
The Elgin defense was equally stout, surrendering just 62 points while forcing more than 25 turnovers over the course of the season.
