The Lady Wildcats varsity volleyball team capped off their home schedule Oct. 17 with a dominant 3-0 sweep of the Pflugerville Connally Cougars on Senior Night.
Elgin honored its two veteran athletes, Bella Navejas and Kamya Shuler, during the celebration. Navejas made a strong impact in her final home appearance, continuing her standout season as Elgin’s leader in kills, while Shuler contributed defensively and provided energy that helped fuel the sweep.
The team battled through a competitive opening set, edging Connally 25-23 to take the early lead. Elgin carried that momentum into the second set, pulling away late for a 26-24 win before sealing the match with a 25-20 finish in the third.
Junior Meta Elliot led the charge with several timely kills that helped the Lady Cats maintain control during close stretches of play. Elliot has been a consistent presence all season, ranking second on the team in both kills and digs.
With the victory, Elgin improved to 9-26 overall and 2-9 in district play. The Lady Cats wrapped up their regular season after press time Tuesday against Georgetown East View.
