A community-wide reunion celebrating Elgin Independent School District alumni and supporters will return this summer as part of the 2025 Western Days festivities.

The Purple and White Jubilee, organized by the Jubilee Committee in partnership with the Elgin Chamber of Commerce and SPJST Lodge, is set for Saturday, June 28, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the lodge on Texas 95. This year’s celebration will spotlight Elgin High School graduates from the 1980s and include welcoming remarks from Elgin ISD Superintendent Jana Rueter and former Bastrop County Commissioner Donna Snowden.

“The Jubilee is an opportunity for the community to celebrate our schools,” said committee member Tracy Ortiz. “Everyone is invited to participate and spend time visiting with family and friends, maybe making new friends.”

The event will feature music, games, refreshments and activities for all ages, and follows the close of the Western Days parade and downtown festivities.

Earlier that afternoon, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., the former Elgin High School building—now the district’s administration offices on North Avenue C—will be open for public tours. Organizers encourage alumni to reconnect with classmates and revisit the historic campus.

The Purple and White Jubilee began in 2010 as a recurring event to honor Elgin High graduates and promote alumni engagement. Past celebrations have spotlighted classes from the 1950s and 1960s, including alumni of the former Mexican and Booker T. Washington schools, which were integrated in the 1940s and 1960s.

A planned 2020 event to honor 1970s graduates was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
