May 2023 Election Results: Dennis, Love win council seats

City council, school board and bond fates were decided late Saturday night.

In unofficial results from the Bastrop County Elections Office, May 6 winners included incumbent Forest Dennis retaking his Ward 4 seat on the Elgin City Council. Joining him will be newcomer YaLecia Love.

Dennis won 53.97% of the vote in a close race against Ward 4 opponent Stephanie Lippke. Love came away with 79.65% in Ward 2 over Jennifer Flores.

Elgin ISD's District 2 candidates had a four-vote margin by evening's end. Bastrop County's last tally Saturday night put Cheryl Renee Reese's 87 votes ahead of John Altmiller's 83 votes and poised for a 51.18% victory.
