Elgin Wildcat varsity football team fell 63-19 to the Rudder Rangers on the road Thursday, Sept. 24.
Establishing their lead early, the Rangers were up 28-9 going into halftime. The third quarter saw two more Rudder touchdowns and one successful field kick from Elgin.
Elgin would score their final points of the night from a pick six halfway through the fourth quarter. The Rangers responded with a final rushing touchdown, making the final score 63-19.
Despite the loss, this is an improvement from their last meeting in 2023 where Rudder defeated Elgin 33-7 at home.
Wildcats are now halfway through their season and hold a 2-3 overall record heading into a bye week. Elgin will begin district play on Oct. 8, when they travel to take on the Pflugerville Panthers.
The Panthers are split 2-2 overall, coming off a 24-19 defeat by Legacy Ranch.
