Lady Wildcats silenced by Georgetown

Elgin Lady Wildcats varsity volleyball team were shut down 3-0 at home by the Georgetown Lady Eagles on Friday, Oct. 2.

The Lady Wildcats were eager to avenge their district opener defeat, where the Lady Eagles hosted and sent Elgin back with a 3-0 defeat.

Georgetown entered the match firing on all cylinders, earning their largest win margin of the match at 25-12. The Lady Wildcats found their rhythm in the second set but could not follow through, falling 25-20. The third set saw strong attempts on both ends, with the Lady Eagles ultimately taking the third set 25-18.

The Lady Wildcats have now allowed 20 points across the eight district games played, mirroring their record of 23 points this time last season. They hold a 2-6 overall record and sit seventh on district rankings.

Elgin will continue the second round of district play as they travel to take on Hendrickson on Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. Earlier this season, the Lady Hawks defeated Elgin at home 3-1.

Hendrickson is currently 5-3, coming off a 3-1 loss at Weiss.
