Sandy Creek brush fire

BASTROP — Authorities responded Monday afternoon to a wildfire near Sandy Creek Road in Red Rock located in southwest Bastrop County. 

Reports estimate the fire has burned about 20 acres and is currently 60% contained. 

According to the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management, no injuries have been reported, but six residential structures and four outbuildings are threatened. No evacuation order has been issued.

UPDATE 1: 

Officials said the fire is estimated to be at 30 acres and 0% contained. 

According to the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management, local departments and state agencies are working to protect threatened structures, which include two residential and five outbuildings. Helicopters are conducting water drops to assist ground crews. 

There are no reports of injuries. 

UPDATE 2:

The fire is now 25% contained and has been reduced to 20 acres. 

UPDATE 3:

Officials report the blaze remains at approximately 20 acres and is now 60% contained.

According to the Bastrop Office of Emergency Management, higher humidity and lighter winds have reduced fire behavior, though six residential structures and four outbuildings remain at risk. 

Firefighters are remaining on scene overnight to patrol and monitor the area. Crews are expected to arrive in the morning for mop-up operations.
