Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering producer Bob Saul and veteran Texas actor Barry Corbin kick off weekend festivities with a “Taste of the Gathering.” Waves of visitors flocked to downtown Bastrop Feb. 19-21 for the annual celebration of cowboy poetry, music and storytelling. Leaving its traditional Alpine setting for the first time, event organizers said Bastrop’s western culture, history along old cattle trails and central location made it a perfect destination for expansion.
