Elgin Independent School District officials are seeking nominations for the next group of alumni to be honored for their achievements and service to the community.
Since 2010, Elgin ISD has recognized distinguished graduates during the Purple & White Jubilee, an all-class reunion celebrating former students who have excelled professionally, shown strong civic involvement and demonstrated a commitment to serving others. Nominations are now open for the 2026 Distinguished Alumni awards.
Byron Mitchell, board president and member of the selection committee, invites the public to nominate an Elgin High School or Booker T. Washington High School graduate to receive the honors. Recognition will be awarded to graduates in four categories based on provided information.
Nominations must be submitted using an official form, which includes category descriptions and required information. The form is available on the Elgin ISD website at elginisd.net/about-us/ elgin-isd-alumni-association.
Completed forms may be submitted online using the fillable form, with background information emailed to elgintxalumni@ gmail.com. Nominations can also be mailed to P.O. Box 311, Elgin, TX 78621. Printed forms are available at the Elgin ISD Administration Building, 1002 N. Avenue C, and the Elgin Chamber of Commerce, 30 N. Main Street.
Background information should be attached to all nominations. Electronic submissions are due March 1 and mailed nominations must be postmarked by March 2.
Award recipients will be announced in April and honored during a ceremony at 2 p.m. June 27 at the Elgin High School Performing Arts Auditorium on County Line Road. The all-class reunion will follow the ceremony at the SPJST Lodge, 702 Texas 95 in Elgin.
