SWAT, ICE search nets three arrests

Three Elgin-area residents were arrested this month following a search warrant executed on a property with previous drug activity, deputies said.

The Bastrop County Special Response Team was deployed Dec. 10 to a residence on Shady Drive, east of the city, with assistance from Travis County SWAT and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement units. Teams gained entry and control of the property with the use of explosives and Adiel Almazon, 20, Ivan Almazon, 44, and Juanita Hernandez, 37, were taken into custody, according to the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office.

A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of 130 grams of cocaine, two vehicles and more than $26,000 in cash.

Hernandez and Ivan Almazon were released to ICE while Adiel Almazon remains in the Bastrop County Jail on narcotics-related charges.

Officials expect further enforcement action to be taken in the coming weeks.
