BASTROP — A juvenile was taken into custody Thursday after placing a bomb threat at a local church, police said.
Bastrop Police Department officers were dispatched about 9 a.m. Oct. 23 after receiving a report of a potential threat at an unnamed church. Police said the threat stemmed from “an alarming statement” left on the church’s voicemail by a juvenile.
According to a prepared statement, the call prompted a swift response, but no additional evidence of a threat was found.
The suspect was identified and taken into custody.
Authorities stressed that there was no danger posed to the public or surrounding businesses at any time.
The criminal investigation remains ongoing, and officials said no further details or the suspect’s name will be released.
