Smithville man dies after being struck by vehicle, arrest made

A Smithville man is dead after he was reportedly struck by a vehicle and a suspect is behind bars, according to the Smithville Police Department. 

Jimmie Lee Jones of Smithville died Saturday night from injuries sustained from being struck by an oncoming vehicle in the parking lot of Super Donuts, 1403 NW Loop 230, Smithville. Ricky James Stevens was arrested by Smithville police in connection with the incident. 

Stevens is in custody at the Bastrop County Jail. He is charged with manslaughter.
