BASTROP — Bastrop officials recently announced the return of Jason Alfaro as the city’s parks and recreation director. Alfaro, a Bastrop High School graduate, began his career with the city in 2002 as a maintenance worker. He was promoted to parks foreman in 2007 and later to parks superintendent in 2012 before serving as department lead in other Texas cities. He brings more than two decades of experience in the field, holding certifications as a parks and recreation professional through the National Recreation and Park Association and as an arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture. City officials said Alfaro’s experience and leadership will help guide the growth of Bastrop’s parks and recreation programs.
