Felony arrests stack locally

Four people were arrested in Bastrop County over two days late last month in cases involving sexual assault, child endangerment and human smuggling, according to area law enforcement agencies.

All remained in the Bastrop County Jail as of press time.

 

JONATHAN MATIAS-JARA

Bastrop County Sheriff ’s Office deputies Aug. 25 arrested Jonathan Matias-Jara, 20, of Dale, at his home on nine charges related to sexual acts with a child.

He faces three counts of online solicitation of a minor, two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact and one count each of possession of child pornography, sexual assault of a child, solicitation to commit sexual assault of a child and solicitation to commit sexual performance with a child, jail records show.

Matias-Jara remained jailed on a $750,000 bond.

DANNY SLACK III

The Elgin Police Department Aug. 25 arrested Danny Slack III, 21, of Elgin, at his residence on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Slack was booked into the Bastrop County Jail and is being held for another agency, according to officials.

BRUCE PADGETT

Bastrop County deputies Aug. 25 arrested Bruce Padgett, 37, of Elgin, at Buc-ee’s in Bastrop.

He was charged with smuggling of persons and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Padgett was taken to the Bastrop County Jail, where he is being held for another agency, deputies said.

TAIRIA MILLER

On Aug. 26, Tairia Miller, 33, of Elgin, turned herself in to the Bastrop County Jail on charges of assault of a pregnant person and endangering a child.

Miller remained jailed on an undisclosed bond amount.
