EISD taps new leaders for fall

EISD taps new leaders for fall

Elgin Independent School District is preparing for the start of the 2025–26 school year with several new leaders in key positions.

Two recent appointments include Randy Mathisen, stepping into the principal’s seat at Elgin Intermediate, and Clark Motley, who will begin his first full academic year as the district ’s chief financial officer. The school year begins Aug. 13 for all Elgin ISD campuses.

Mathisen is moving up from his role as associate principal at Elgin High School and replaces former Principal Jeffrey Martinez. He has served as an administrator at the high school for the past three years and has been with the district for seven years overall.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Mathisen as the new principal of Elgin Intermediate School,” Superintendent Jana Rueter said. “His commitment to fostering a supportive and successful learning environment will be a tremendous asset as he works to elevate and enhance the culture of student achievement that defines Elgin Intermediate.”

Motley brings a broad background in public education, including previous roles as superintendent, director of finance, principal, athletic director, teacher and golf coach in Industrial ISD, Victoria ISD and Lamar CISD.

“We believe that Clark’s experience and background will not only continue Elgin ISD’s strong financial standing, but will also strengthen it for the future growth of the district,” Rueter said.

Mathisen holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Lamar University and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Texas. Motley holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Houston–Victoria and a bachelor’s degree in business marketing from Southwest Texas State University.
