THEGREATCASACASINO SMITHVILLE — Try your luck for a good cause at The Great CASA Casino July 19 from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. in the Smithville Recreation Center. Hosted by the Smithville Area Chamber and CASA of Bastrop, Fayette & Lee Counties, the evening features classic casino games, chips and refreshments — all to support advocacy for children in foster care.

CHEMISTRY ROAD SHOW BASTROP — Experience the wonders of science with TexasA&M’sChemistryRoad Show July 22 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Bastrop Convention Center. Led by Dr. Jim Pennington, the free event features chemistry demonstrations ranging from fire-bursting books to geniein- a-bottle experiments.

DINOSAUR MUSEUM ELGIN—Celebratetheend ofParks&RecreationMonth and the Summer Reading Program with a visit from Dinosaur George’s Traveling Museum July 25-26 at the Elgin Recreation Center, 361 N. Texas 95. The exhibit features dinosaur skulls, fossil replicas and interactive displays that bring prehistoric creatures to life.

NATIONAL DAY OF THE COWBOY BASTROP — Celebrate the spirit of the American West July 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center. This family-friendly event features crafts, music, line dancing,cowboystorytelling and appearances by real-life cowboysandvaqueros.Free withmuseumadmissionand for children 12 and under.

SCHNAUZER PALOOZA MCDADE — Celebrate all things schnauzer at the first annual Schnauzer Palooza July 26 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Rising Sun Vineyard.
