JULY 12

SCIENCE OF TOYS

BASTROP — Discover the science behind classic toys like tops, yo-yos and marbles at this hands-on family event July 12 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center. Guests can play, explore and create their own whirligigs and helicopters while learning STEM concepts. Free with museum admission and for children 12 and under.

JULY 12

BIG SKY CIGAR

BASTROP — C&S Cigar Lounge hosts the Big Sky Cigar Event July 12 from 3 to 7 p.m. at 705 Pine St. Meet Big Sky VP Brandon Marsh and rep Brad, sample new blends and enjoy drinks, deals and a raffle. A portion of box sales will benefit Warriors and Quiet Waters, supporting post-9/11 veterans through fly fishing. Free to attend—novices and aficionados welcome.

JULY 13–16

ST. PETER’S VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL ELGIN — St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will host Vacation Bible School July 13–16 from 6 to 8 p.m. nightly. This year’s theme, “At the Table,” features fun with Sandy the Seagull and Toasty through games, crafts, stories and adventure. A meal will be provided each night. Open to children ages 4 (potty trained) through grade 5.

MEEC MEETING

MCDADE — The McDade Extension Education Club will meet July 16 at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 230 Waco St. Attendees are invited to bring their favorite game and snacks to share for an afternoon of fun and fellowship.

JULY 19

MUSIC IN THE MUSEUM BASTROP — Enjoy a free, family-friendly afternoon concert with the Terry Moore Trio July 19 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center. Local favorite Terry Lyne Moore—knownforher standout performances at the Bastrop Opera House— will deliver a lively mix of country, pop and more. Donations welcome.

JULY 25–26

DINOSAUR MUSEUM ELGIN — Celebrate the end of Parks & Recreation Month and the Summer Reading Program with a visit from Dinosaur George’s Traveling Museum July 25-26 at the Elgin Recreation Center, 361 N. Texas 95. The exhibit features dinosaur skulls, fossil replicas and interactive displays that bring prehistoric creatures to life.
