Bastrop delays ESD land sale

BASTROP — City Council postponed a decision June 10 on whether to sell city-owned land to Bastrop County Emergency Services District No. 3, citing a need for more information.

The vacant lot at 1808 Jasper St. is appraised at $420,000 by the Bastrop County Central Appraisal District. The ESD, represented by local real estate agent Carlon Ellis, has offered $200,000.

Ellis provided sales data for nearby parcels to support the offer.

Council member Kerry Fossler, a licensed real estate agent, said the properties used for comparison included residential sites with existing homes and were not appropriate comparisons for the vacant lot. She offered to gather more relevant examples for review.

The council agreed to revisit the offer once that research is complete.
