SWEDISH MIDSUMMER REUNION ELGIN — The Elgin Swedish Association will host its 78th Midsummer and Reunion event June 19 at the SPJST Hall, featuring guest speaker and humorist Dennis Swanberg. A social hour begins at 5 p.m., followed by a chicken fried steak dinner with music, a maypole dance, Swedish store and bakery. DON’T MESS WITH TX SMITHVILLE — Celebrate Texas pride with “Don’t Mess with Texas, Texas Baby,” a lively, family-friendly musical performance at Railroad Park in downtown Smithville. Shows begin at 6 p.m., presented by Playhouse Smithville with support from the Smithville Cultural District and Texas Commission of the Arts. Free and open to all—bring lawn chairs and Texas spirit.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL ELGIN — Jesus, the Alpha & Omega Church, 511 E. Sixth St., will host Vacation Bible School for children in grades K–6. Sessions run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 19–20 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 21. Kids will enjoy games, food and Bible teachings in a fun, faith-filled setting. Free and open to all.

JUNE 20-22 SISTER ACT

BASTROP — The feel-good musical “Sister Act” hits the stage at the historic Bastrop Opera House from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Follow disco diva Deloris Van Cartier as she brings new life to a convent— and finds sisterhood along the way. ELGIN — Stomp into summer at Dyno-Lympics June 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elgin Memorial Park. Enjoy dino- themed games like Triceratops Ring Toss, Dino Egg Races and more. Kona Ice will be serving up cool treats.

MUSIC IN THE MUSEUM BASTROP — Enjoy an acoustic set by local duo John & Jenn from My Nextdoor Neighbor Saturday, June 21, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center. The free performance features reimagined originals and covers with rich harmonies and genre-bending flair. Donations welcome.

CAR & BIKE SHOW

BASTROP — The 16th annual Blue Flame Cruisers Car & Motorcycle Show rolls into Bastrop June 21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This family-friendly outdoor event showcases a wide range of classic and custom vehicles, with awards presented at the end of the show.

BASTROP JUNETEENTH BASTROP — Celebrate the finale of the 2025 Juneteenth Cultural Festival with a street dance in historic downtown Bastrop June 21 from 7 to 11 p.m. Enjoy live music, refreshments and community spirit. Bring a chair or blanket and join the celebration.
