May’s yard of choice

Sean Lucas’ lawn at 300 Insider Loop in Saratoga Farms has been selected as the Elgin Garden Club’s Yard of the Month for May. His landscape features a wide variety of succulents and cacti, including euphorbia, astrophytum, Peruvian torch cactus and flapjack kalanchoe. The yard also holds flowering beds with salvia, rosemary, delphinium and a fairy garden with solar lights. Lucas says his favorite weekend activity is visiting plant nurseries and adding to his collection. The local gardening group meets on the first Tuesday of every month at the Grace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 801 W. 11th St., starting at 9:30 a.m. Visitors and new members are welcome.
