Pitmasters in the making

BASTROP — Bastrop and Cedar Creek High School students brought the heat during the first Bastrop Independent School District BBQ Cook-Off last week, showcasing their skills across brisket, chicken, pulled pork, ribs and dessert. Each dish was judged individually on appearance, tenderness and taste by a panel of guest judges. Bastrop High School claimed the overall title, edging Cedar Creek by just two points. Students used a shared pit provided by ACIS Team Services, which also assisted with judging.
