REVERE’S LANTERNS BASTROP — Celebrate the spirit of American independence with a lantern- making craft honoring Paul Revere’s legendary midnight ride. Drop in from noon to 4 p.m. April 12 at the Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center, 904 Main St., to take part in this hands-on activity blending history, poetry and art.

ELGIN — Elgin Sub District, Community of Churches and Elgin Parks & Recreation will host the Community Easter Egg Hunt and Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 12 at Elgin Memorial Park, 1127 Main St. Egg hunts by age group, games and family fun are planned. Extra parking at Elgin Recreation Center.

LANTERN RIDE
BASTROP — Commemorate Paul Revere’s ride with a community lantern lighting April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in downtown Bastrop. The event includes a poetry reading and NJROTC presentation before Paul Revere rides down Main Street. Lanterns will be distributed to businesses and residentsareencouragedto hang theirs at home to light up the town.

BASTROP — Former Texas Ranger Hall of Fame Director Byron Johnson will present “A Heritage of Three Centuries in Legend and Artifacts” April 24 at the Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center, 904 Main St., from 6:30-8 p.m. The program will explore the Texas Rangers’ real and legendary history, cross-cultural roots and role in pop culture.

MCDADE — The McDade Cemetery Association’s annual meeting begins at 10:30 a.m. on April 26 at McDade Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 194 El Paso St. A potluck meal starts at 11:30 a.m., with the meeting and auction to follow.
