Late Sonic owner’s name rises

Ricky Rodriguez received honors on the Elgin Sonic marquee sign last week. The late 1974 Elgin High School graduate and U.S. Navy veteran owned and operated the establishment for nearly four decades. According to those who knew him, he was a mentor to many in the position, often providing young residents with their first jobs. Rodriguez was inducted into the Sonic Hall of Fame prior to his Jan. 18 death.
