Elgin Riders rally to support local families

The Elgin Riders gathered Nov. 10 with trunks full of donated food items, alongside Bluebonnet Trails’ Parents as Teachers program leaders. 

The local motorcycle group hit their goal for the third consecutive year, providing Thanksgiving sides for 96 Bastrop County families facing challenges, including those with financial stresses, first time parents and relationships affected by domestic violence. 

Parent educators of the nonprofit program also matched each side with a $50 H-E-B gift card. 

“All the motorcycle riders, they come together when needed. I wish I could name everybody who donated, but that would take quite a bit of time,” Elgin Rider Mary Longie said, giving special thanks to Elgin Flower Shop owner Britten Tedford, who donated 40 sides.
