Elgin Elementary students present custom portraits to local officers, in honor of their support for the district, during a Sept. 16 School Board meeting. The community is invited to the grand opening and dedication ceremony of the new Elgin Police Department building Sept. 26, 5:30 p.m. at 202 Depot St. The 11,000-square-foot facility addresses space and maintenance issues, and will provide EPD with much-needed room to accommodate growing staff and community services, according to the department.
