ELGIN — Searchers looking for a 7-year-old boy Sunday, Nov. 26, recovered his body from a chilly pond just hours after he was reported missing.
The pond is in the vicinity of Pasadera Road, investigators said.
According to a Facebook post by the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office, the parents of Jesus Castellanos-Carreon reported his disappearance to authorities about 3 p.m.
At 7:50 p.m., a water-rescue team from the Austin Police Department located the boy’s body in 5 feet of water that registered 56 degrees, deputies said.
