Lorenzo Perez Ubias, a longtime resident of Bastrop County and a beloved soul of 86 years, passed away in the divine presence of Jesus and the Saints in Heaven Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024.
Ubias will lie in state Thursday, Sept. 5, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Elgin Funeral Home, 712 N. Avenue C in Elgin, with a time for remembrance and gathering from 6 to 8 p.m.
To honor his spiritual journey, the Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. with Deacon Gumisindo Gonzales. A Christian Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Sept. 6, at 3 p.m., with Father Henry Hudson presiding, following the Christian burial at Elgin Latin Cemetery.
