Elgin officials announced Aug. 31 City Manager Robert Eads is now on a temporary administrative leave of absence.
Development Services Director Beau Perry has been named acting city manager and holds full administrative authority, according to the city. Officials did not provide additional details about the reason for the leave.
City Council is scheduled to hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Elgin Public Library Annex Council Chambers.
The agenda includes an executive session to discuss personnel matters involving the city manager. According to city documents, the council may deliberate Ead’s appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline or dismissal.
The council will reconvene in open session for possible action.
The city said all departments, emergency services and public programs will remain operating as normal.
Eads was sworn into office in December after having served as interim city manager for several months.
