Born in Houston, she was a beloved artist, teacher, runner and dog lover, whose creativity and spirit touched many lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mary Cayton; her husband, Robert Carter III; and her son, Chad Maness.

She is survived by her son, Jared Maness and his wife Christy; granddaughters, Gracelyn and Addison; sister, Marsha Cayton and her husband John LaHam; and nephew, David Doctor and his wife Aashika.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Cayton Ranch in McDade, Texas, 772 Marlin St. A meal and fellowship will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements and care are entrusted to Providence- Jones Family Funeral Home, 604 Texas 95 N in Elgin.
