Ada Beth Barrington Staton
Ada Beth Barrington Staton
Beth Staton was born Nov. 17, 1938, in Afton, Texas, as the eldest child of Aubrey and Merle Barrington. She spent her childhood in Crosbyton, Texas, before relocating to Elgin in the summer of 1953.
She attended Elgin High School and graduated with the Class of 1957. During her high school years, Beth participated in the band, played on the varsity basketball team, enjoyed home economics and was honored as Elgin’s Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow.
On December 29, 1956, Beth married Troy Staton, the love of her life. Together, they shared 45 years of marriage until Troy’s passing in 2002.
Beth worked outside the home and later retired from the state of Texas. Yet, her most cherished roles were those of devoted wife, loving mother to five children and “Nana” to her grandchildren.
Beth loved using her hands to make things for others, most notably through her love of sewing, which was evident in the clothing she made for her young children and grandchildren. Additionally, Beth was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for 50 years. She found joy in spending time with family and friends, cooking, playing dominoes, dancing, camping and traveling with Troy during their retirement.
Above all, Beth was a faithful follower of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and she shared His loving kindness, goodness and grace with those she encountered in this life. Beth was sweet, strong, dependable and forgiving.
She was an active member of the Elgin Church of Christ, was devoted to God’s word and shared her God-given talents through teaching Bible school and sewing for Soft Touch Ministry. She never let the physical limitations of MS stop her from pursuing Christ and sharing His love with others.
Beth’s legacy lives on in her children, Cindy Frantzen (Patrick), Melinda Wilson, Bruce Staton (Brinda), Doug Staton (Janet), Paula Arbuckle (Russell); grandchildren, Charlotte (Kris), Jamie (Chris), Crystal, Philip (Gennifer), Elizabeth, Diana (Jonathan), Kellie Ann (Forrest), Cole (Jaime), Cade (Amy-Katherine), Ethan and Jackson (Nicole); 29 great-grandchildren and one greatgreat- grandchild.
Her sister, Jo Ann Ging, and brother, Aubrey Barrington, also survive her, alongside many nieces and nephews.
Beth is preceded in death by her husband, Troy Staton; her parents, Kathryn Merle and Aubrey Barrington; and her two brothers, Allan and Robert Barrington.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Argent Court Assisted Living, Aspen Hospice, Liz and Christina for their kind and unwavering care.
