WACO — The Elgin High School girls varsity basketball team came close to picking up its first win very early in the 2023-24 season as the Lady Wildcats traveled Nov. 11 to Waco High School and fell 39-27 to the 6A Lady Lions on the road.Elgin was led against Waco by sophomore Trinity Martinez, who knocked down three shots from behind the arc for a team-high nine points and three rebounds in the Saturday afternoon loss.
