SMITHVILLE — Smithville has added two new faces to its varsity football coaching staff as the Tigers look to bounce back from a tough 2024 campaign.
Cameron Greene has been hired as the team’s new defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, while Chris Sexton will serve as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.
Greene brings 12 years of coaching experience, including stints at Palacios, Flatonia and Bay City. Most recently, he served as defensive coordinator at Lubbock Monterey, where he helped lead the team to a district title.
“I’m truly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to joining the Smithville Tiger family,” Greene said in a statement shared by the district. “It’s an honor to be part of a program with so much potential, and I’m excited to help build on its tradition of success.”
Sexton arrives with 14 years of coaching experience, including the past 10 as an offensive coordinator.
Both coaches join the staff as Smithville looks to regroup following a winless 0-10 season in 2024. The Tigers are still chasing their first win since a 26-7 victory over Caldwell in 2023.
