The Elgin Wildcats varsity football team has released its 2025 schedule as it looks to build on a 5-2 district record and a postseason win from last season.
Elgin will open the season on the road against Buda Hays Friday, Aug. 29, followed by another road trip to House Park in Austin to face Anderson Sept. 5. The Wildcats then return for their home opener against Montgomery Sept. 12, before starting district play by hosting Austin McCallum Sept. 19.
The Wildcats will play their first Thursday game of the season Sept. 25, taking on Pflugerville at Pfield ahead of their bye week.
Elgin returns to action Oct. 10, when it hosts perennial power Liberty Hill. The Wildcats will then travel to face Crockett in their second Thursday matchup Oct. 16.
Elgin will host defending district champion Bastrop Friday, Oct. 24, then travel to take on Pflugerville Connally Oct. 31.
The regular season concludes at home against Navarro Nov. 7.
The Wildcats enter the challenging slate under new head coach Rich Lucero—taking the reigns after a successful season as offensive coordinator—and a green quarterback, as former starter Dylan Owens transferred to Hutto during the offseason.
