Elgin High School varsity softball players Gabriel la Sandoval and Bianca Galindo were named to the Texas Sports Writers Association All-State team.
Sandoval earned thirdteam all-state honors, while Galindo received honorable mention for her play at third base. Sandoval made an impact both in the circle and at the plate, finishing the season with a .407 batting average and a 4.98 ERA. Galindo was a force at the plate, posting a team-high .567 batting average along with 10 home runs.
Both players played key roles in helping the Lady Cats finish with a 5–7 district record, narrowly missing out on a postseason berth.
Elgin Wildcats softball player Gabreilla Sandoval hit a .407 batting average with a 4.98 ERA this season.
